We are Westlake Dance Center
More than your typical dance studio, Westlake Dance Center fosters both personal and community growth, and works to form lasting relationships with and between students.
Who We Are
Westlake Dance Center opened in August of 1993 with the dream of offering a new variety and style to Seattle dancers. We have classes in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, and more. We have classes for beginners through advanced students every day of the week in a friendly, supportive atmosphere where dancers can be challenged and encouraged to dance to their full potential.
Westlake Dance Center is predominately an adult age studio. Our students range from junior high to mature adults. Students must be a minimum age of 12 years old to attend class.
At Westlake Dance Center, we’re committed to creating a fun and dynamic community for dancers of all levels and backgrounds. Led by Sheri Lewis, a beloved mentor and fixture in Seattle’s jazz and hip hop scene since 1993, we work hard to provide an engaging dancing and learning experience that promotes personal growth and self-improvement. We’re proud to say that many of our students are now working professionally — on tour with big name artists like Justin Timberlake, Macklemore, Pharrell, Ricky Martin, Beyoncé and more — but we also have an amazing community of dancers of all ages that just come for fun.
Sheri is also a licensed massage therapist specializing in myofascial release and deep tissue. You can learn more and contact Sheri about appointments here.

Westlake is seriously one of my favorite parts of living in Seattle. The teachers are all so kind and you can really tell that they know what they’re doing.
Westlake dance is AMAZING! It’s a drop-in studio so it fits around your super busy schedule, classes vary widely in ability level, the teachers are quality, and the culture is open and happy. What more could you want?
Where can I park?
We generally have plenty of parking available in our lot in front of the studio. If it happens to be full, our overflow parking lot is behind Flo-Ann’s Diner. But please, no parking in Flo-Ann’s lot if they are open.
Am I eligible for a starter card?
If you’re a newbie — yes! The starter card is valid for first-time Westlake students only, and can be used for Level I and Level I/II classes.
How long do unlimited cards last?
All unlimited plans are valid for one month from date of your first class — use ’em or loose ’em!
Is the WDC office open during class?
Yup! Feel free to stop by during classes.
Can I record my class?
Unless you have received explicit permission from your instructor, we prohibit video taping during class.
What ages can dance at Westlake?
In general, we don’t allow students under the age of 12. The one exception is our Hip Hop for kids class on Fridays.
What should I wear?
Honestly, we don’t really have a dress code, so wear something you’re comfortable moving around in!
